Busiingye On The Rock Rivers of Joy Churches
Ministry Type: Church
Joined FMIN: April 2007
Biography: Leading Pentecostal worship in the Muslim community of Kazo, Kampala, Uganda, where the deep-seated tradition of witch doctors is still practiced, Charles and Florence Busiingye and their 25-member praise and worship team lead "God's people to heaven with a zeal." On The Rock Rivers of Joy Church and Ministries started in 2003 as door-to-door evangelism by Charles and now has membership of 120 in Kazo and another 10 branches around Uganda. "I stand as a vision bearer with an associate pastor, five ushers, four deacons and two elders," Charles Busiingye says. His mother also pastored a Full Gospel church, and Charles says he has "always seen children from unfortunate background" and has a strong passion to lead them to a better life. Of particular concern is Uganda’s large number of HIV patients.
Rivers of Joy supports a youth ministry of young people ages 12-25, a group of singles and married couples ages 25-35 and a sports ministry. The focus is raising children to adulthood through teachings of Jesus Christ - teaching them how to pray and how to serve in Christ's vineyard.
Strengths: Charles' own upbringing and strong compassion for Uganda's youth have worked with God's vision for leading souls to Him. "As a church, we have a football club which brings us together from different backgrounds, joining together with non-believers as we witness..."
