Samuel & Mary Vasa
Alpha Omega Mission

Draksharama, Andhra Pradesh ,
India

Ministry Type: Translocal

Ministry Description:

Joined FMIN: November 2007

Biography: In the peaceful region of Draksharama, a Hindu pilgrim place with a population of approximately 40,000, most of the residents are either farmers or laborers. The area also serves as a marketplace for small villages nearby. In this lovely setting, Samuel and Mary Jyothi Vasa lead Alpha Omega Mission. Initially Samuel was a member of a Baptist church and preached at a hamlet church of the main body. Eventually he constructed the thatched-roof building that houses Alpha Omega Mission.

Alpha Omega is in Peyyalvaripeta, which Samuel says consists of 50 houses and 200 people, including children. "All of these are poor people and daily laborers," he writes. "Most of them are Hindus and worship idols. Ours is only one church in that village, and my aim is to bring all those people in to Christ." Currently Samuel visits homes and prays for the needs of the people in the region. "At present they are sending all their children to Sunday school. If we lead the children in godly manner, I hope all their parents may come to know Christ through their children."

Strengths: Samuel and Mary's strengths are prayer and ministry to children.
