Workplace Leaders Network Seminar
by: Ellene Meece, Business Ministry Director
Rocky Mountain springtime weather in mid-January was the norm when business leaders gathered in the foothills above Denver for the 1st Workplace Leader (Business Ministry) Network Seminar for Faith Ministries International Network. Forty-three people came from all over Colorado and one family from Arizona to 'connect' and be inspired by the scheduled speakers and planned activities.
Paul and Maralee Gazelka from Minnesota were the speakers. Former State Representative in Minnesota and author of Marketplace Ministries, Paul personified a living example of someone who has embraced both worlds of ministry and business and made a difference. He is definitely equipped by God's mandate and by experience to challenge, inspire and give us tools to carry out our higher calling. Maralee was right by his side giving additional insight and praying with Paul for each person who came.
Friday evening began with registration and appetizers where Mountain High Christian Center, pastored by Ed and Mona Shirley, the venue for the event, was transformed into a casual Italian Garden with candles and delicious Italian food. The youth of Mountain High catered the event and garnered rave reviews from the group.
Amidst concentrated conversation and networking over dinner, those who came made lasting relationships and added reinforcement to their careers and life work. Paul's story and perception of marketplace ministry was truly life changing for those who heard him.
Saturday, the group reconvened over continental breakfast and testimonies inspired from the evening before. Paul gave specific ways a person in the marketplace could accomplish ministry and stimulated each person to be creative and resourceful.
FMIN's goal to facilitate each person in their workplace ministry was presented, and Dave and Bonnie shared common vision and goals that could be carried out to expand the kingdom together. The morning session was to have been concluded with questions and answers but the Holy Spirit rearranged the agenda and answered all our questions by demonstrating Himself through personal words, prophecies and impartation through Dave and Bonnie Duell and Paul and Maralee Gazelka. The room was charged with power and expectation. Each person was impacted, and we were keenly aware that the possibilities of how we could join together to advance God's kingdom in the earth were unlimited.
Note: This "network," functioning as an arm of FMIN, is for those who know they are called to be in the workplace, whether as a teacher, doctor, lawyer, construction worker, farmer, entrepreneur or business owner. They also know they have a mandate from God to minister to people in those settings or take the Gospel to other countries or take their 'working gifts' to other places as ministry. To help potential partners be able to identify with this purpose, we are changing the name of Business Ministry Network to Workplace Leaders Network.
Ellene Meece lives in Meeker, Colorado and works with her husband in their natural resource company while running her own online store, http://www.Grandmastreasuresonline.com. Currently, she oversees the marketing for the FMIN Workplace Leaders Network.
