God's Destiny - Our Gift of Freedom!

by: Ellene Meece

Imagine your destiny wrapped up in beautiful wrapping paper with a wide elegant bow on top . . . just waiting for you to open as a gift. Key tools to unwrap this gift are: Honor - Trust - Obedience.

Almost two years ago, we followed a plan we believed to be God's direction and His destiny for us. Instead of immediate manifestation and accompanying financial gain, we spiraled uncontrollably into financial loss. Of course, God was faithful even in our desperate situation but what happened to the dream He gave us? How did we end up in such adversity?

Hebrews 5 in the Message reads, While He lived on earth, anticipating death, Jesus cried out in pain and wept in sorrow as He offered up priestly prayers to God. Because He honored God, God answered Him. Though He was God's son, He learned trusting obedience by what He suffered, just as we do.

Jesus' destiny plan was to offer up prayers for us and defeat death. He was point man for LIFE. This destiny was unique to Jesus and Jesus alone. No one will ever have this "call" again, just as the destiny plan God has prearranged for you is unique only to you. One thing we will share though is the adversity that we go through as we walk out the destiny call on our lives. Someone once said, "In adversity is the seed for destiny."

Looking back on our situation, we were not perfect. In the midst of distress, we asked questions, cried, admitted our fears and frustrations to each other and to God. But, we never turned our backs on the destiny call. We kept saying, "Yes." Of course, we had been through hard times before in our walk with God. But, in this recent experience, I believe we learned trusting obedience to an even greater degree and ultimately honored God.

Each one of us has a unique destiny. Our part is simply to say "yes" to His plan and trust Him through the adversity that will inadvertently attend the dream. That trusting obedience will give God the opportunity to fulfill and complete what He began in us - the ability to unwrap our gift of destiny.
