Seize the Opportunity

Back in the 1990s a board game came out called Cash Flow. It was about calculating business opportunities and making decisions to bring multiple streams of revenue to the player. Of course, along the way there were uncalculated circumstances and pitfalls.

The overall objective was to teach the player that, in spite of these surprises, to have the courage to take a calculated risk when an opportunity card presented itself. Most likely that opportunity would never be drawn again from the deck of cards.

Spiritually, the same applies. We have been given a deck of opportunity cards paid for by Jesus Christ. The time is NOW. No more delaying our God dreams. No more waiting for the perfect set of circumstances to step out on what has already been provided. No more forgetting to appreciate the people in our lives . . . the gifts that have been given to us. No more being deceived that rich opportunities come to us with a loud trumpet blast when sometimes they are presented softly.

Colossians 2: 6-7 in the Message gives profound advice, "My counsel for you is simple and straightforward: Just go ahead with what you've been given. You received Christ Jesus, the Master; now live Him. You're deeply rooted in Him. You're well constructed upon Him. You know your way around the faith. NOW do what you've been taught. School's out; quit studying the subject and start living it! And let your living spill over into thanksgiving."

We often hear people say, "When my ship comes in . . ." Or, "Someday I'll be in a position to do this or that . . ." The truth is, you have received Christ Jesus and everything that pertains to life and godliness . . . so opportunities abound now!

Stop everything at this moment and make a list of the things you plan to do someday.

✓ Play a game with my kids/grandkids

✓ Call my friend who just lost her husband

✓ RSVP "YES" to the family reunion I always put off until    next time

✓ Write the outline to the book that's in me

✓ Start the Bible study that's been in my heart

✓ Take the first step into making my hobby into a    business opportunity

✓ Forgive that person who offended me

✓ Sign up for that educational class online

✓ Tell my co-worker today that I appreciate her
