Building a Business God's Way
by: Ellene Meece
Whether you are young or old, with or without capital, starting a company or growing a current business, there are some pretty simple guidelines set out in the Bible for building God's way. Of course, there are plenty more pointers where these came from, but here are four tips to get started: You scatter seed upon the ground and then sleep and get up and sleep and get up while . . .
(1) Do your part and let God do His
Mark 4: 26-29 (Amp)
God causes the seed to sprout and grow and increase and . . .
You know not how (Trust)
God causes the seed to produce, first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear and when the grain is ripe and permits, immediately . . .
You send forth reapers (your team) and put in the sickle because the harvest stands ready.
(2) Rest in His pre-arranged path
Psalm 127: 1-2 (Amp)
"Except the Lord build the company/business, they labor in vain who build it . . . "
It is futile for you to rise up early, take rest late and spin your wheels in anxious toil because . . .
God is giving blessings to you while you sleep! God is acting on your behalf, preparing men's hearts and minds and providing a path of favor and blessing for you.
(3) Follow Decision-Making 101
John 5:30 (Amp)
"I am able to do nothing from Myself . . . but only as I am taught of God and as I get His orders . . . "
Imitate Jesus' style of decision-making process
Make no decisions from your own knowledge
Give God the opportunity to teach you and get His orders and perspective
Listen to Him so that you can decide as He tells you to decide.
(4) Enjoy the journey
Matthew 11: 28-30 (Amp)
". . . I will cause you to rest. I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls . . . My yoke (work) is light and easy to be borne."
Come to Him with your burdens, stresses and unholy worries
Receive relief and refreshment in your soul
Take His way of doing things into your heart
Learn from Him, trust Him, so that you have His refreshment, recreation and blessed quietness for your soul
Believe the truth that God's work is not harsh, hard, sharp or pressing; but His work is good, comfortable, gracious, pleasant, light and easy to do!
Without embracing God's guidelines, we often find ourselves in the "rat race" with life-destroying agendas growing in our minds. His way makes our path clear and consistent. Building a business God's way . . . is the only way!
Proverbs 16:3 offers, "Roll your works upon the Lord -- commit and trust them wholly to Him: He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will and so shall your plans be established and succeed."
