Strategic Planning

by: Ellene Meece

Hopefully, your business or company has already engaged in strategic planning for this new year and you are now on task to execute the goals, objectives and project plans already set forth.

A strategic plan is critical to help team members know what's priority and where they are headed. . . and why. It is also a map for the leaders to stay focused and be able to communicate why, when and where the business wants to be by the end of the year.

Benjamin Franklin has been quoted in saying, "By failing to prepare you are preparing to fail." And Thomas Edison is known to have said, "Good fortune is what happens when opportunity meets with planning." Proverbs 24: 6 in the Message states it pretty straightforward, "Strategic planning is the key to warfare; to win, you need a lot of good counsel."

But, did you know there is a Heavenly Strategic Plan? Just like in our business there are distractions, false assumptions and huge hurdles to side track us - in our spiritual life the same enemy is at work. If he can keep us away from the Master Strategic Plan that is laid out in God's Word, we can easily forget where we are headed and why. And equally, if he can keep our communication cut off from the Creator of the Master Plan, its implementation is almost sure to fail.

Priscilla Shirer in her new book, Fervent, inspired by the feature film, War Room, wrote these compelling reminders on applying God's Word with strategic praying,
"There's strategy to this combination of the Word and prayer. From Scripture we receive written proof of what God has done for us, what He's created us and called us and empowered us into becoming. Then in prayer we cooperate with Him to stamp these truths repeatedly into our hearts. And then, more than that, we access them and engage them and draw down their power into our everyday experience.
In prayer we watch words on a page turn a new leaf in us, both in our hearts and in our day-to-day living. In prayer we feel a bolstering that energizes us with holy confidence. In prayer we set off like trailblazers, carving fresh neural pathways within our brains, transforming the way we think of ourselves, receiving and believing our true identity - the one that was stamped on us the moment we ran to the foot of the cross.
That's why you and I need to be praying - to keep the truth about our real identity in constant, unbroken focus before us."

In our broken world, if ever we need to be on the cutting edge of strategy and preparedness, it's now. After all the enemy of our soul is set on destroying all we hold dear and he does it strategically. Participating in God's Heavenly Strategic Plan, we can not only reach personal and business goals but we can experience God's complete victory in life.
