God's Love Manifested in Kenya!

by: Jan Moshier

Greetings to Everyone,

The team returned from Kenya with warm and wonderful greetings filled with love from the Kenyan people for all friends and family in the U.S.

As usual it's the changes like the extreme time change, the climate change and the life altering change from daily only being about the Lord's business continuously in Kenya, to a home life which includes work, bills and normal daily concerns vying for attention that leave us a bit dazed for awhile.

It always takes several days to adjust the body, a few weeks for the mind, and longer yet for my spirit to find contentment in the Lord without the sights and sounds of my beloved Kenya surrounding me. I already know a team is forming for next autumn, and our spirits dance inside of us with the anticipation of returning.

Psalms 37:4-5 says,
"Delight yourself also in the Lord,
And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the Lord,
Trust also in Him,
And He shall bring it to pass."

I know when we commit ourselves to the Lord, not only does He give us our desires but He plants those desires in us. So I just thank God now with a whole heart for a three week mission journey that was the most awesome ever. I thank Him for every person we met, for each precious church and ministry we were honored to meet and encourage, for the amazing ministry done within our team and the gifts that He developed in us to do His work more effectively.

I also thank Him for the breathtaking beauty of His creation in that place, from the Indian Ocean coast with it's reef and tides changes and endless beaches, to the wild animals and endless vistas of hills and open mountain ranges in shades of golds, greens and lavender that made up Maasai Mara, to the beautiful lakes filled with flamingos, to the cultivated mountains surrounding Mt Kenya with it's racing rivers and stunning waterfalls through the hilly plantations of tea, coffee, banana and pineapple, clear down to the valleys full of watery rice fields as far as the eye could see. Thank you Lord, Your handiwork is magnificant.

I will be returning to my personal project of sharing stories of peoples lives who have been touched in unique ways while on outreach, in the near future. I also will be sharing some stories from special moments in Kenya in this "Stories From an Evangelist's Desk" series I've started. My hope and purpose in sharing the stories is to help the supernatural become natural in people's minds and herarts so we expect amazing God moments on a regular basis, to not only to unsuspectingly invade our lives but to become an expected and integrel part of our lives.

Our God is AWESOME,
Jan Moshier

It's easy to get stuck in the trap of thinking that if only your circumstances would just change, then life would be better. You might think, If I got a new job, or a new house or had better friends, then I would really be happy. But I've learned that often times, God changes us before He changes our circumstances. We are thinking, “If only my circumstances would change, when God may be thinking, If only your attitude would change!

Today, if you've been thinking, If only, it's time to turn your thoughts around. Don't allow negative thinking to direct your attitude or affect how you treat others. Instead, begin to thank God for what He has planned for you. Bloom where you are planted. Tend to what God has placed in your hand. If you will focus on what you have instead of focusing on what you don't have, then God can bless you and multiply you and lead you forward into the destiny He has in store for you!
